Learn from the Woodpecker

Updated: Oct 3

Are you a morning person or a night person?

It's not easy for me, but I truly do enjoy the reward of waking up early, making a warm drink, getting cozy and watching nature’s AM miracle show.  Taking in the sun rise, listening to the symphony of birds and animal sounds, the feel of crisp air in your lungs.  It’s a priceless experience.

I particularly enjoy watching the birds, these are special little creatures to me, I see them as messengers and teachers to us.

One morning Mathew and I were sitting outside before the girls were awake, and taking in the glory of the morning.  In the distance we heard the subtle sound of “tap tap tap”… “tap tap tap”.  It took me a few minutes to find where it was coming from but after a while I locked in on a beautiful red headed woodpecker about three quarters the way up an Oak tree tapping and pecking into the bark.

Mathew shared with me the Woodpecker is actually a farmer.    The Woodpecker will fly around and find nuts and seeds like acorns then go and pecks a hole in the tree bark or a dead log and puts the seed into the whole, and leaves.  Bugs will then come and lay their eggs in that hole and hatches out grubs, (or worms).

The Woodpeckers remember where they planted the seeds and come back some time later to harvest the grubs and have their feast.

The lesson?

Good things take time.  Quality is not a rushed process.

The best quality is something you put your heart and soul into, and finish it with an expression of gratitude.  I thought of our own small garden and farm land, the process of give and take with the earth, with others and our own inner selves. This is something so profound its hard to put words to.  Just the process of growth itself needs a moment of pause and thanksgiving each day.   The harvest or the reward after the growth is really a secondary blessing.  The primary blessing is the process itself, the process is the flow of life happening right in front of us at our own hands.

Life is a miracle.

Enjoy every moment, for every moment is a steppingstone to something even more glorious.

Health is a process.  Be grateful for the process, it will enrich you in ways you never thought of.

We are here for you to offer support however its needed, Mathew and I have a lifetime of experience in natural health and are dedicated to you our brothers and sisters. Together we heal.

Much love,

Jenine
